Ken Kostenbader has defended his thesis in the first ever  in-person AND virtual thesis defense by the York Group (thanks again Covid 19!). Ken's public defense was virtually attended by people from around the country and the world, and even included a minute of surprise Swedish.

Luckily we got to have a small quick celebration to congratulate Dr. Kostenbader in person.

Ken has been working on the pistol ribozyme, investigating its mechanistic and structural properties computationally, drawing parallels to the hammerhead ribozyme.
