York Graduate Student Colin Gaines was recently awarded the Rutgers Van Dyke Excellence in Research Award.

The award is named after Francis C. Van Dyke, a professor of Analytical Chemistry at Queens College (now Rutgers) in 1871. He taught physics, botany, physiology, and chemistry. He was later appointed Dean of the College, and served from 1901-1913. The Van Dyke Award recognizes full-time graduate students that show excellence in their Ph.D. research.

Colin was nominated by Dr. Darrin York, and chosen by the Vice Chair of the Graduate Program. He received this award during the annual Graduate Student Award Ceremony on 1/19/17.
